float()

float() is built into Python. You do not import it. Freshers only need one honest call and the printed result — not a long definition.

float() — output — 4.5. String became float.

Wrong type often raises TypeError. Empty values matter for bool/all/any. Don’t mix float up with a similar name (sorted vs sort, int vs float).

Exam tip

Call float() once and say what prints.

Example

# float()
print(float("3.5") + 1)

float() — output: 4.5. String became float.

Short notes

  • Deffloat() is built-in — no import.
  • RuleOne call + exact output.
  • TrapWrong type → TypeError.
