Types of AI

Types you must not mix. By ability: narrow (ANI), general (AGI), super (ASI — hypothetical). By function: reactive (no memory), limited memory (today’s self-driving stack remembers recent frames), theory of mind / self-aware (research talk, not shipping products).

Interviewers want ANI vs AGI first. Then “limited memory” for cars and chatbots that use context. Don’t claim your phone assistant has theory of mind.

Types of AI — output — three lines. Products you use are ANI.

Exam tip

ANI vs AGI + one function type.

Example

# Ability types
print("ANI = one job (spam, maps)")
print("AGI = any human job — not a product today")
print("ASI = better than humans at almost all — hypothetical")

Types of AI — output: three lines. Products you use are ANI.

Short notes

  • DefANI / AGI / ASI
  • RuleReactive vs limited memory
  • RememberProducts = narrow + limited memory
