Reasoning

Reasoning is drawing new conclusions from what you know. Deductive: guaranteed if premises are true (logic). Inductive: generalise from examples (ML). Abductive: best explanation for a symptom. AI systems mix these.

Doctor: fever + rash → maybe measles (abduction). All humans die, Socrates is human → Socrates dies (deduction). 100 spam samples → a filter (induction).

Output — idea / do / check for Reasoning. Fill those three in the viva.

Exam tip

One example each of the three.

Example

# Reasoning
print("idea :", "Reasoning")
print("do : one tiny example on paper")
print("check: one failure case")

Output: idea / do / check for Reasoning. Fill those three in the viva.

Short notes

  • DefDeduction / induction / abduction.
  • RuleML is mostly induction.
